The five best BitTorrent clients

The five best BitTorrent clients

Posted on 11. Oct, 2008 by Joel in Mac, Software, Windows

I download a lot. A lot I mean! And the only source to me is via torrents. And that’s why I’m always in search of fast and speedy clients that can ease my job and complete the download as soon as possible. According to me I think µTorrent is the best and most efficient. Yet its not only my liking that everyone might agree with and hence I bring to you list of best BitTorrent clients that I have found over the web. Hope you like it and  help your friends by sharing the list =)

µTorrent:

Its no doubt that µTorrent is listed on the top of the list! It is the most known, used and highly recommended BitTorrent client. A light weight client with easy to use functions and most of all the fastest among all. µTorrent also has support for multiple trackers, so you can download the same torrent from two or more trackers at once. Get to know more about µTorrent here.

Azureus:

Azureus now called as Vuze, implements the BitTorrent protocol using Java language and comes bundled with many invaluable features for both beginners and advanced users. It offers multiple torrent downloads, queuing/priority systems (on torrents and files), start/stop seeding options and instant access to numerous pieces of information about your torrents. Azureus also features an embedded tracker that is easily set up and ready to use.

BitComet:

BitComet is a just another client that is fully compatible with BitTorrent, designed for the high-speed distribution of 100MB or GB sized files. Initially if you are using it for the first time, it might look a bit confusing. IT is very well designed graphically when compared with µTorrent but it is a little complicated. But when you are fine and get used to it I think it is then fairly simple to get to grips with. Support download certain files within torrent, disk cache, fast resume, port mapping, speed limits, etc. Small, clean, and fast. No adware or spyware.

Bits on Wheels:

A Mac supporting client, which is the only disadvantage but runs with a very light footprint and remains responsive even under a very heavy workload. Bits on Wheels provides you with lots of advanced information on your torrents. Bits on Wheel lets you set your own upload and download speeds. Well, this is all I can be saying about Bits on Wheels coz I’m not a Mac user and haven’t used this client before =)

BitSpirit:

BitSpirit is a powerful and easy to use BitTorrent client that offers advanced features and is highly customizable. Features include multiple simultaneous downloads, disk caching, High-speed downloads (with speed control), scheduled downloading, IE integration, instant messaging support, and fast job resumes. Other features include HTTP/SOCKS4/5 proxy support and UPnP portmapping.

The only thing I loved in this client is the design. Really has got an impressive look and I loved the logo too =)

So there goes the list. If you’ve loved it, then do share it with your friend using the buttons below.
